This isn’t a movie review of the movie “She’s Dating the Gangster” but this is a guide on how to enjoy this feel-good romantic comedy movie of Star Cinema:
1. Enjoy the kilig of Kathniel fever.
This generation’s Teen King and Teen Queen have definitely matured from their previous movies “Pagpag” and “Must Be Love” shown last year. Their maturity as actors will definitely amaze you, probably will leave you in awe.
Kathryn Bernardo acting both Athena Dizon and Kelay is genuinely charming and adorable. While a typical teenager who loves to party will love the character of Kelay more, Athena will make you realize that love is more than just what you imagined.
Daniel Padilla’s acting prowess has moved an inch higher. His character of Kenji delos Reyes and Kenneth will pinch your heart and make you burst into anger at the same time will leave you in a state of delusional euphoria.
If you’re planning to watch this movie, make sure you’re ready to watch the improved version of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
2. CharDawn moments can make you both smile and cry.
The opening scene of the movie shows Richard Gomez, an older version of Kenji delos Reyes, and by that scene you will already picture what could probably the heart of the story: a moment with the older version of Athena Dizon played by Dawn Zulueta.
If you’re a big fan of both these actors, while they play a very minor role in the film, you’ll definitely love them both watching the scenic Albay in the latter part of the movie.
For a book fan, you may argue why both of them grew up and didn’t die as what the book showed you but in their love story might teach you to value the decisions you make in your lives.
3. Albay is one perfect place for romance.
The perfect cone of Mayon Volcano might be the perfect scene for kilig and romance. This particular scene with Kenji and Athena in the background is one of the highlights of the movie and might be one of the most romantic.
On the other hand, Kenneth and Kelay’s travel to Albay is something you should also watch out. For a teenager living this generation, this is particularly a very familiar scene you’ll love and don’t miss to spot the loom bands.
4. Falling in love with a a gangster could be life changing.
For Athena Dizon, this holds true. The 1994 version of the gangster which a number of teenagers fondly considers the style as albularyo (quack doctor) is that one person that could change the course of her life forever.
Without her love for Kenji delos Reyes, there will be no “She’s Dating the Gangster.” There’s a pinch of reality on that moment when Athena was watching the other Athena on the hospital bed talking about their ailment which they were keeping from Kenji’s knowledge. You might wanna ask yourself, am I doing the same to my romantic life right now?
5. All you need to do is to wait for the last few minutes of the film.
For a Kathniel fan, this is the moment you are waiting for. With not so much detail, watch both Kathryn and Daniel’s lips move an inch closer and closer to each other’s.
In this way, you’ll definitely enjoy “She’s Dating the Gangster” but you may wish to read my movie review as one of the matured audience.
